The Global Coalition for Better Policies and Regulation of Water and Sanitation Services intends to be an international cooperation platform aimed at boosting the improvement of public policies and regulation of water and sanitation services in the world.

 

A Call to Action: Regulating for Citywide Inclusive Sanitation

International Water Association

The mission of this Call to Action is to support and inspire regulators, particularly economic, to catalyse service delivery in the context of affordable and sustainable tariffs, charges and subsidies, all with close linkages to water resources and environmental regulation, supported, with enforcement where necessary, through planning and building, environmental health, occupational health & safety and consumer protection regulations.

 

Mutual Accountability Mechanism 

Sanitation and Water for All

The Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) Mutual Accountability Mechanism is a global framework that encourages governments, donors, civil society, and other stakeholders to make concrete, time-bound commitments to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services. It promotes collaboration, transparency, and shared responsibility by tracking progress and holding partners accountable for their commitments. The mechanism fosters a collective effort to ensure sustainable and equitable access to WASH for all, aligning with global goals and enhancing accountability in the sector.

 

International Network of Drinking-water and Sanitation Regulators (RegNet)

World Health Organization

The International Network of Drinking-water and Sanitation Regulators (RegNet) is a global forum to share and promote good practice in the regulation of drinking-water and sanitation services, for the protection of public health. The network’s mission is to protect public health, as it relates to drinking-water and sanitation, through the promotion of excellence and the continual improvement of regulatory frameworks and systems.

 

G20 Call to Action on Strengthening Drinking-water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Services 

Sponsored by Brazil, as part of its presidency of the G20 in 2024

The G20 Call to Action on Strengthening Drinking-water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Services is a global initiative that urges G20 countries to prioritize and invest in safe and sustainable WASH services. It emphasizes the importance of universal access to clean water and sanitation, especially in the context of health emergencies and climate change. The Call to Action encourages coordinated efforts, policy reforms, and increased financing to improve WASH services, aiming to drive global progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
